Abstract
The impact of new technologies, the mandate for greater transparency, and the ongoing aftershocks of globalization have collectively removed nearly any trace of predictability within the enterprise environment. In light of this, delivering sustainable competitive advantage can no longer be found through simply scale and efficiency, but rather requires the ability to interpret and adapt in real-time to streams of information flows, make sense of these, rapidly translating these into effective responses designed for precision rather than repeatability.
The ability today is best delivery through Business Process Management (BPM). BPM is a discipline
involving any combination of modeling, automation, execution, control, measurement, and optimization of business activity flows in support of enterprise goals, spanning systems, employees, customers, and partners within and beyond the enterprise boundaries.
